My name is Abel Pastor and I am the author of this blog. The truth is that I am a beginner writer and I am excited that you have decided to join me in my growth as a blogger.

This first blog I would like to use to explain why I created “De Tapas” and who it is directed to.

Leaving My Home

Like every good adventure, mine started when I fell in love with the most beautiful women in the world. I decided to follow her wherever she was going to be happier, and for the last 10 years that place was her home country, Australia.

While I love Australia so much, I did find so many people asking me about good places to visit in Spain, since Spain is one of the most common holiday destinations in Australia. Many of these friends had already an initial itinerary that they showed me, and I can resume all of them in these three spots: Barcelona, Madrid, and Malaga.

Don’t take me wrong, those three places are beautiful and to visit them should be a must for anyone who does not have much time in Spain, but seriously, to spend 7 days in one of those cities, unless it is for partying, chilling, or eating. It makes no sense. I also must let you know that we Spaniards know that those tourist places are the most common ones and therefore everything is super expensive. You just need to do a little bit of Googling to realise that Madrid and Barcelona are the most expensive cities in Spain.

A Local Touch

While living in Australia, I have been able to visit amazing places, some breathtaking. While I have visited the most iconic places in Australia, the truth is that the places that have stayed in my memories the most are the “secret spots” or the places that the locals have shown me.

Well, that is my goal with this blog. Before going to Australia and while visiting Spain in many occasions, I have tried to show a “local” experience to my Australian family and, it seems that it has been successful since they all want to keep coming back.

Therefore, this is where De Tapas was born. This blog is for those who want to go to Spain, eat well, spend little money, and see beautiful but not famous places. If that is your case, if you are tired of just following the crowd, then this is your spot.

The Process

Since I have a full-time job and a family to take care of, I will be uploading posts not regularly, but I will make sure that the posts I put are worth reading and investigating.

Every post will include the following:

I feel all those things that each post will analyse will give enough options to choose your “local” experience but allowing at the same time some variety and options.

I will also be adding different categories to the blog, with Breweries, Hiking Spots, Beaches, “Calas”, Islands, etc., as I keep adding more and more posts.

Conclusion

Anyway, now you know the purpose of this blog, and I truly hope you enjoy it! And feel free to add your comments to each post, especially if you have been there.
